Eyebrow serums are designed to thicken sparse or thinning areas by encouraging the growth of your own natural hair. This makes your eyebrows appear stronger and more defined again – even without ‘drawing’ them on with a pencil.
The few serums that have been developed specifically for eyebrows contain different combinations of ingredients. Good serums contain a combination of nourishing and active ingredients. The active ingredients can influence the activity of the hair root.
Most of the active ingredients are peptides. This is a large group of organic compounds with many functions. Among other things, they can also increase the activity of cells. In the stronger serums, the peptides even resemble messenger substances of the human body.
Every body reacts differently to stimulation and so the results of eyebrow serums are also individual. In rare cases, no changes can be observed after application.
No, the eyebrow has a different growth programme to the eyelash – which also has a longer growth phase. This is not about length, of course, but about ‘awakening’ dormant hair follicles. This stimulates the existing eyebrow hairs to grow more densely.
Unfortunately, this is only possible if follicles (areas that can form a hair root) are still present. If, for example, hair has been plucked intensively over many years, hair follicles can be lost. If there are no more follicles, unfortunately hair will no longer grow.
When you stop using the serum, the growth of the brows slowly returns to its original level.
This is extremely rare in the area of the eyebrows. Some of the active ingredients have a very strong stimulating effect on the cells. This can sometimes manifest itself as irritation or discomfort. In the event of severe irritation or swelling, you should consult a doctor immediately, as these may be signs of hypersensitivity.
You can test how you react to eyebrow serums by applying it to the sensitive skin in the crook of your arm and observing whether any side effects occur during the course of the day. Otherwise, ‘less is more’ – applying it once a day is enough. Doing it more often increases the risk of overburdening the skin. So just apply it strictly according to the instructions in the evening to cleansed skin.
For some groups, we recommend prior consultation with a doctor: pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with eye conditions such as glaucoma and patients undergoing chemotherapy.
The same applies to the results: every body reacts differently and sometimes the effect takes longer to develop. Especially because the eyebrow has a longer growth phase than the eyelash. But usually visible results can be clearly seen after about 8-12 weeks of daily use.
I would always recommend keeping the skin around the eyes clean and free of grease before application and avoiding oil-based eye make-up removers. The oil can make it more difficult to absorb the eyebrow serum. Try not to rub your eyes, as this puts a strain on them and causes hair breakage. And I would be careful with plucking, as hair follicles are lost over time. Trends change, but the hairs don’t come back in that place.
Yes, of course the Nutrabrow serums do not contain any hormones. Otherwise, we would also be legally dealing with medication.
Hormones are basically messenger substances that the body can produce itself and use to trigger a wide range of processes in the body. Some of the active ingredients in the eyelash and eyebrow serums can be called hormone-like – their structure fits like a key to similar locks – or receptors – but they are different molecules. Many also have a false image of hormones and do not even know which substances belong to them. If you eat gummy bears with melatonin, for example, you are actually taking hormones. This is actually a real sleep and feel-good hormone – and not just hormone-like.
